June’s job report saw a gain of 57,000 nonfarm jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly employment report. Employment gains happened professional and business services, social assistance, and health care.
June’s unemployment rate was 4.2%, slightly down from 4.3% in May. The civilian labor force participation rate is at 61.5%, dropping 0.3 percentage points from May.
The report found that average hourly earnings for employees on private, nonfarm payrolls was $37.64. Over the past 12 months, average hourly earnings have increased by 3.5%.
