Many sales reps deliver pens, notepads or the usual trinkets that recipients either quickly throw out or shove in a desk drawer. For nearly 20 years, however, Brookfield, Wisconsin-based staffing agency QPS Employment Group has been delivering daffodils to its clients as a first sign of Spring.
Daffodils are often viewed as a symbol of hope and renewal. When QPS hands the vases of daffodils out to clients, they also receive a note saying that QPS has donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) on their behalf. QPS makes a yearly annual contribution.
“It is always very well received by our clients,” states Jeri Meyers, executive vice president of sales of QPS. “We deliver at the time of year when people are eager for Spring to arrive, so they love the flowers. We also get a number of e-mails and cards back stating how people have been touched by mental health issues and how important the recognition and donation is to them.”
According to NAMI, one in five adults experience mental illness. This charity was chosen by our employee owners in support of mental health awareness, which we believe is essential in the workplace. NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
